fecher obtains extensive porting order in Switzerland

NEST tax administration software to be ported to the .NET environment.

The consulting and software company fecher has been engaged to implement an extensive porting project in Switzerland. Developed by KMS and Sesam in conjunction with eleven cantons, the leading tax software program NEST will now be fully ported from Gupta Team Developer 3.1 to the more up-to-date .NET environment. Additionally, several new software components have already been developed using .NET. Around 2.5 million SAL items and more than 1,000 reports will be ported. One of the special features of this project is that, parallel with the first two migration stages from April 2010 until the middle of 2011, KMS and Sesam will continue their intensive software development using Gupta. All four of the project's migration stages should be completed at the beginning of 2013.

After everything has been migrated over to .NET technology, better use can then be made of modern software-development options. "We felt strongly about wanting to protect the know-how we acquired together with our clients over the past 15 years, which was naturally invested in the further development of the software. This is why we decided to use porting", explains Guido Hermann, Division Manager of Development at KMS. In addition to replacing the Gupta programs, the project's scope also includes the porting of a variety of reports from Report Builder to a more modern platform. KMS and Sesam are currently considering the use of StimulSoft - a high-performance tool that fecher has recently added to its product portfolio - which would make it possible to generate a number of new reporting variants under .NET.
